Sophie Cocco began her studies in film and television production at the Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF in 2006. Before and during her studies, she gained practical experience working on feature films such as Mondscheinkinder (2006) and Preußisch Gangstar (2007) and TV formats such as Das Supertalent. She not only graduated with honors, but also made a big splash with her diploma film Kriegerin (2011) by David Wnendt, which won the Studio Hamburg Young Talent Award for Best Production, the Sehsüchte Producer Award and the German Film Award in Bronze.
Since 2012, Sophie Cocco has worked as a producer, line producer and production consultant on numerous national and international film projects, including the three works by Thomas Stuber Herbert (2015), In the Aisles (2018) and Dark Satellites (2022), by Burhan Qurbani Berlin Alexanderplatz (2020) in addition to No Beast. In addition to her work as a producer, Sophie Cocco is on the board of the Master's program “Executive & Line Producing* (ELP)” at the Ludwigsburg Film Academy Baden-Württemberg, where she also works as a lecturer and mentor. She also teaches at other film schools, shares her expertise with aspiring filmmakers and is passionately involved in professional associations and the European Film Academy.
Her future focus also includes the further development of creative and effective co-production approaches. Sophie Cocco is consistently committed to promoting women in the film industry and to family-friendly working conditions.
