Karoline Kunz studied directing at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna, where she trained under Samy Molcho, István Szabó, and Klaus Maria Brandauer.
After graduating in 2006, she worked as a director at Theater Freiburg, the Münchner Kammerspiele, and Theater Ingolstadt, where she was Lead Director. Her focus was on stage adaptations of literary works, including The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Brave New World, and City of Glass. Her productions received multiple awards.
Since 2007, she has taught acting and directing at institutions such as the Berlin University of the Arts, the Otto Falckenberg School in Munich, the Rostock University of Music and Theatre, the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin, and the Zurich University of the Arts.
In 2015, she moved into casting and talent management, working for two years at RIETZ Casting & Agency as both an agent and a casting professional for national and international productions.
She started her producing career at UFA Fiction in 2018 developing and producing serialized content for national and international markets.
Since 2023, she has been working at SOMMERHAUS Filmproduktion, where she is currently focusing on the development of national and international film and series projects. At the same time, she was appointed Professor of Drama at the Berlin University of the Arts.
In November 2023, she joined the Series Women program at the Erich Pommer Institute for the Class of 2023/2024, a program designed to support emerging European female producers and strengthen their position in the international television industry.
